I started Picket Fence Counseling with a simple belief: that everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, seen, and supported. That belief shapes everything I do.
Cindy Grubbs, AMFT
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist
I became a counselor because I believe that every person carries more strength than they realize, and sometimes we just need a steady, caring presence to help us find it again.
Ten years ago, I had storms in my life that I never saw coming. It wasn't the life I pictured as a little girl, but it was the path God set before me. Through it all, my dog Mia was my constant. She stayed by my side while I cried, filling the void when I felt I had no one. Even when I closed my heart to God, he spoke through her presence. Mia was the gift I needed when I felt others had let me down. Today, that experience allows me to stand in the gap for others. Being present for you will not be a job, it will be a blessing!
When I'm not in session, you'll find me digging in my flower bed, binge watching a show, or spending time with family. I believe in the same for my clients that I practice in my own life: rest, reflection, and growth.
No two people are alike, so no two treatment plans are either. I begin by listening deeply, without agenda, to understand what you're carrying and what you're hoping for.
From there, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Therapy, tailoring each session to what serves you best in that moment.
Progress looks different for everyone. I celebrate small wins, sit with hard moments, and always keep your goals at the center of our work together.
These aren't just words on a wall. They're the principles that guide every session, every conversation, every decision I make.
Every person who connects with me online deserves to feel genuinely welcome. I meet you where you are without judgement.
